General description of glass sealing cord, also called glass yarn

A very popular sealing cord used for sealing fireplace inserts, boiler doors, dryers, chambers, and furnaces operating at high temperatures. High chemical resistance allows use in contact with most aggressive chemicals except phosphoric acid, sulfuric acid, and fluorine. The color of the sealing cord is white.

How to replace worn sealing cord?

Remove the old sealing cord from the door groove, clean the groove from any remaining sealing cord residues that may have stuck; measure and cut a new section to the proper length; press the new sealing cord into the groove. A special fire-resistant adhesive designed for this purpose can be used to install the sealing cord. Intended for mounting heat-resistant products: braids, cords, gaskets, sleeves, linings, installation of refractory bricks and mufflers. It can also be used for materials based on ceramic fibers, mineral wool, glass fiber. Resistant to high temperatures. Excellent adhesion to cast iron, cement, and refractory bricks. Drying time is 48 hours. It is made on the basis of alkaline silicates and refractory fillers. This adhesive does not contain asbestos.
